Inspired by the futuristic racing video game “Wipe’out”, scientists at the Japan Institute of Science and Technology created a real-life model race track with liquid nitrogen cooled model ships which, as a result of the Meissner effect, are placed in a state of quantum levitation, permitting them to move around the track in mid-air.

At just 3.9” wide, the Pentax Q is the world’s smallest and lightest digital camera with an interchangeable lens. It’s reminiscent of the old Pentax Auto 110 (1978). Pillow Talk is an inventive way to lessen distance in a long-distance relationship. Created by Scottish designer Joanna Montgomery whose own boyfriend lives over a 1,000 miles away, Pillow Talk works through a pair of wireless sensors placed in the pillow and a pair of rings which communicate their wearers’ heartbeats to each other’s sensors. The result is the experience of the pillow’s soft glow and one’s significant other’s heartbeat as one sleeps. Brilliant.
